Emma has been practising Iyengar yoga for 27 years. After many years studying the subject, she undertook the rigorous two-year Iyengar yoga training programme at the Iyengar Yoga Institute, Maida Vale, London to qualify as an Introductory yoga teacher. After further training she passed a higher level assessment and is now an Intermediate Junior 1 teacher.
Iyengar yoga has been a very important and deeply valued part of Emma’s life throughout her adulthood. Teaching yoga was a natural progression for her, building on her long years of practice and study with teachers all over the UK.
She continues her own professional development, attending weekly classes with Jayne Orton in Birmingham, one of only two advanced level Iyengar teachers in the UK, as well as regular workshops with senior UK teachers, including Marios Argiros and Alan Brown. In December 2014 she was lucky enough to study directly with Geeta Iyengar for ten days in Pune, India. In July 2017 she spent a month studying directly with the Iyengar family and their senior teachers at the Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute (RIMYI) in Pune.
She loves the practice of Iyengar yoga, especially the deepening of her understanding and knowledge that regular practice has brought her. She loves passing on the many benefits of Iyengar yoga to others through her teaching.
The Iyengar yoga certification mark. A sign of excellence, clarity and depth of understanding.
