I have been practising Iyengar yoga for 36 years and teaching for 15 years. In 2018 I qualified at Junior Intermediate level 2. I continue my studies with Advanced teacher Jayne Orton, Alan Brown and other senior teachers. I am always learning from my students, teachers and from my own practice.
Iyengar yoga emphasises alignment, precision and depth of knowledge of the asanas (postures). It is suitable for people of any age, shape or size. Classes build progressively through careful sequencing from simpler to more challenging poses. You become totally absorbed in the poses as you practise : as well as the many physical benefits, mind and body become integrated.
In December 2014 and in July 2017 I studied directly with Geeta Iyengar in Pune, India, experiences that were transformative. I also studied with Prashant and Sunita Iyengar in Pune and with Abhijata Iyengar and senior RIMYI teachers in Pune, the UK and online. I have studied in India and in the UK with Firooza Ali, Mumbai teacher and life-long student of BKS Iyengar.
I have a special interest in scoliosis (curvature of the spine). I have a scoliosis myself and this has prompted me to study with Elise Browning Miller, a senior Iyengar teacher with scoliosis, from California. I have studied with her and assisted her on several occasions.
I love the practice of Iyengar yoga and love passing on its many benefits to body and mind to others through my teaching.
The Iyengar yoga certification mark. A sign of excellence, clarity and depth of understanding.
